I've been on this forum a while, but never a chance to introduce myself.
We imported a 2018 Explorer Platinum this summer from Canada to Switzerland. The registration process took some time because of local laws:
- VIN is not stamped on a body part
- Vmax is not in the owners manual or anywhere on an official site
- The dimensions of the vehicle are only found in imperial units
Once every problem was solved, we took our Explorer on a road trip with a caravan attached to it and I must say it was a pleasant journey.
What I already changed:
- did some Forscan modifications, show the radio station name, remove Sirius, added the Bambi mode
- mounted a European hitch and changed the wiring
Now there a some things that are annoying, that I will have to change in the future:
- wind noises on the passenger side coming from the upper door corner
- no hood struts
- the second row console is hollow and 70% of the space is unused (don't know yet how to modify that)
- this console needs to pivot or slide so the 3rd row seats can be accessed easily (we have children seats mounted in the second row seats)
- as soon as the factory mounted Hankook Ventus tires are done -> get some good summer only tires
- have European maps installed
