Hi guys and girls. names jared. right now i have a 94 YJ its sitting on 32's and a bunch of custom stuff anyways i'm looking at getting a 90-95 explorer or ranger 4wd. anyways i'm kinda confused as to why you guys are doing SAS? my dads 93 explorer has a straight front axle or at least i think it does i'm not new to 4x4s. so whats the deal am i missing something?

Hey Jared,

Your dad's '93 has a TTB (twin traction beam) front axle. It is a kinda solid/ifs hybrid. This is the same for all 91-94 4WD Xs. The 95+ went to complete IFS.

Welcome to the site.. The Explorers have either a TTB or a IFS front end.. More than likely you dad has a TTB front end. The 2nd generation Explorers are a great truck for mudding.. The lift kits only available are the 3" body lift & the 4" suspension lift. You can just about do anything to the 2nd generation Explorers.. There are a few of members out here that have solid front axles and a bunch of guys that run 33s or higher using a 3" body lift & a TT/Shackle.

i'm not a big fan of BL but the 4" suspension kit sounds pretty good. so this twin traction beam thingy how well does it hold up? i'm not a big mudder i like rocks and sand and just basic trail riding not to hardcore(yet) but body damages isn't to uncommon to me. anyway does this TTB articulate well? or is it like ifs? one more thing does the ranger have the same thing? sorry for all the questions
