I have a 2003 explorer, while driving yesterday my highbeam indicator turned on, I proceeded to turn it off (middle of afternoon), I continued driving till I was home, parked truck in driveway & turned ignition off. I was in the house for about a hour, looked outside & noticed my highbeams where on. I went back out & thought that a door was left open or my knee hit a switch to turn the lights on. Nothing - the highbeams won't not turn off. The only way I could get them off was to pull the fuse under the hood (which was warm), any ideas on why this happened & how to fix this situation.

Thanks

On the Explorers, the turn signal stalk (multi-function switch) is really a two way for our high beams. Pushing the stalk towards the gauges illuminates the high beams and will leave them on. Pulling the stalk towards the steering wheel/you will illuminate the high beams but will go out once you release it. It's for "passing" supposidly. Anyhow, which way you to push/pull it. Maybe you put it forward and didn't know it?

Tried everything

I tried forward & back on the turn signal, they would not go out. When I turned the truck off and removed the key and walked away everything on the vehicle was out except for the highbeams, they stayed on, the only way to turn them off was to pull the fuse.
