My high mount brake light hasn't worked in years. I read through a thread here that suggested cleaning the grey connector that is part of the wiring harness used in conjunction with a trailer. Found the wiring harness and grey connector tucked inside the bumper. Pulled the connector apart, sprayed both ends with electronic contact cleaner and allowed to air dry for an hour. Hooked it all back up and it did not work.
There has been mention of a 10 amp fuse that would be the next step in the diagnosis of the problem. That fuse is supposedly located close to, or is a part of, the ballast that is on the top inside portion of the hatch. I looked for it, but did not find it.
Any ideas?

I don't think I saw a fuse either.

Just convert it to LED and be done with it. It's really not that hard. Getting another ballast is just rolling the dice on either it being bad or it going out soon after install.
