High Output Alternator

Did swapping out for the new battery fix whatever issue you had? I'm about to put a system in my 2020 and have extra lithium for the back battery hope I don't need a bigger alternator.

As far as I know, there is only one battery, the 12V one under the hood. I'm not aware of a "back Battery" .

He would not have a second battery as his is an XLT. The hybrid does have a second battery on the left side in the back.

Thanks Dale. I knew about the hybrid. That's why I was curious about his post as he doesn't have one.

I’m having the hardest time finding a high output alternator for my explorer. There’s a couple for the 3.0l or the police interceptors but none for the 2.3l. JS has one for the 2016-19 2.3l where are you guys getting your beefed up alternators for 6th gens?

Can't find one either. Ugh. And my '21 King Ranch is only charging @13V now ? 4yrs old yes , but I only have 11K miles on it. Absolute garbage 🗑 😒

I believe U have that backwards ? There's a couple for 2.3L Ecoboost and PIU's(3.3L) , but NONE for 3.0L Ecoboost motor. ST's , KR's or Platinums '20-'24

Just FYI, only OEM alternators appear to work without issues in the Explorer. That has been discussed before.

Oh Yeah , well that doesn't make Me happy 😤 Ford should be sued under the "Right to Repair Act" or something 😉 Making sh¿t that no one can upgrade or even work , should criminal ! Especially considering the absolute horrendous quality and unreliability.

Also Peter , what about modifying OEM 220A Factory unit to output more amperage ? Let Me guess 🙄 BMID system won't allow that either huh ? Fix Or Repair Daily...

I don't think that has been discussed here yet. As mentioned in another thread, the issue seems to be with Ford using a Linbus/Canbus-based protocol alternator.
