My 01 SOHC has started revving way up when first started, then immediately goes back down. It isn't something that happens all the time either, and doesn't seem to matter if the engine is hot or cold.

When if first starts, it will rev up to around 2500 rpms then immediately drop back to like 700. It sounds like I'm somebody who thinks they need to hit the gas when they start their car (a la 1982)!

Any ideas on this? I think that whatever is causing this is also causing my mileage/performance issues. I posed here a while ago that I have a very high TPS voltage, and that is still going on.

Thanks,
Blue

Well, you need to get that TPS adjusted then. My SOHC does this too, especially when it's cold. Check your IAC and make sure it's cleaned out as well. Hasn't really bugged me very much since it drops back down quickly.

I thought that I should adjust the TPS too, but mine is WAY off. Here's the info from my previous thread:

>The Haynes manual says to check the input voltage to the TPS, which is supposed to be 5.0v. I checked mine and it is 6.5v (ignition on, engine not running).

says that the voltage coming back from the TPS at closed TB should be ~.96v. Mine is 1.30v.
