High temp and revving?

Hi all,

I have a 2006 Explorer V8. 4.6L.

About a week or so apart I have had the same issue which is as follows.

It appears after a heavy few accelerations after stops my temp gauge within a few moments rises to the max and the engine makes a very loud revving sound (fan?).

I took it to the local dealer a week or so ago who could not duplicate the trouble. I drove it for about two weeks with no issues until today.

After I parked it for about 1/2 hour and drove home (about a 5 minute drive) it did not occur again.

Anyone have any insight into this?

I have searched the web and found similar questions but no information that helps me.

No coolant leaks anywhere? It sounds to me like an air pocket in the cooling system.

I did notice the coolant low a while back, Ford topped it off. The radiator was replaced in September as the 06 has a known radiator issue. However! I keep a close eye for leaks and have yet to see any.

Drove today for about an hour or so and the issue did not repeat it self.
