Hissing sound

My 98 has a hissing sound coming from the intake area. It may be normal since it is plastic but seems too loud to me. I have done the usual vac leak search and come up with nothing. It idles ok, and runs good, but the noise just makes me wonder.

BTW, what were they thinking when they made that plastic intake anyway? It looks like something Dr. Seuss would make.

You sure it's from the intake itself? If not it could be your IAC has some carbon build-up and needs to be cleaned.
