1993 Explorer XLT
Hey peeps. I just recently purchased an immaculate 93 Explorer XLT with a bad head gasket for $1400. Cool, huh? Anyway, I found you guys while surfing the net trying to find out why the pushbutton 4x4 wouldn't work. I read up on rebuilding the T-Case engagement motor as well as the "Presto-Beat-em-up-Mallet" trick. I'll be a holy dog pile if it didnt work! YOU GUYS ROCK! I'll eventually do the real fix on it but hell... its working, aint it?

Anyway, this looks like a great site! Congrats and Kudos to the upper-cheese in charge of this place and Hiya-Hiya to all you posting grunts. Keep me plugged full of info on this hog so I can keep it running! :exp:

Jeremy

P.S. Anybody here from the Pacific NW area?

OUCHIES!!! How many posts til the "wannabe" crap goes poof?

Welcome to the site. What mod's you got planed for the old X. Sounds like you got one heck of a deal.

Welcome! You got a good deal! There is a wealth of info here and some really great people. What are you plans for the X? Street? Off road? Little of both???

Thanks for the welcome :) The new rig will likely be mostly street for awhile. I love how comfortable it is and this would be my very first SUV. I've had oodles of trucks and one car so far, but I'm really diggin this Explorer. I've got a German Shepherd who has planted his flag on the back half of the rig and god forbid if I dont fold the seats down for him.

Eventually when the novelty has worn off and I have moved to a newer vehicle (2-3 years) I'll likely start turning it into an off road/hunting machine. I really like what I see here for Explorer mods! And the way I see it, a bloody, quartered elk will fit back there just dandy.... and give the dog something to sniff at. :)

Welcome to thes site. Definately turn that truck into an offroad truck, you'll be happy with the results. As for the wannable elite explorer status, you have to upgrade to an elite explorer member for that tag to disappear. Its only $30 and you get many benefits including a photo gallery, your own email address, etc..

Well as soon as I get off my gun buying frenzy I'll snail mail some dough. Gonna hafta get rid of that wannabe crap :P

Sounds like a good deal, congrats! What color green is your Explorer? I just picked up (I think I got a good deal on it) a one owner 94 XLT that is that teal green. Body, interior & motor/trans in good shape (great shape for a 10 year old vehicle).

Dave, My exploder is the dark green with gray interior. I'm hoping to be able to post a pic of it real soon. I will be digging into the head gasket within the week so if anybody has any pointers or things I should look out for, speak now or forever hold your pizza. I'm mechanically enclined so I've done this stuff before, just not on an explorer before.

OH, and as a side note, I have a 74 Ford F-100 XLT Ranger with a 390 in it that I've been restoring for a few years now... Just got the motor done awhile ago and now I'm starting on the interior. (Dunno why I just told you that but I cant seem to find the delete button now :P )
