my 97X XLT came with a 6 disc CD changer from the factory I believe.. I was wondering if any head unit would be compatible with it?? or would I need to get something to make it compatible??

They are not compatable with aftermarker HUs, however, adaptors are available 9 http://www.peripheralelectronics.co... us know how it works for you. Good luck....

Sorry for a typo in the link in the previous post.

I went to Edit it but the Edit function was unavailable??????

hmmmm well which one do I actually need??

and what I want is to keep the CD changer but put another head unit in.. in case I was not clear in my other post..

well I called that place aldive and the tech person there said that there is nothing available to keep the disc changer but change the HU. they said they work together and if I want to change the HU then I would have to change the disc changer also.. is this guy correct or was he doing crack???

I have never seen it done, just repeating what I have seen in posts here. I would tend to think he is right,

Further, any aftermarket deck will function better than the factory one, My factory unit tajes, it seems forever, to switch discs.

Good luck.

thanks for your help man!!

Hey Al, do you know if anyone has tried replacing the factory changer with an aftermaket one in 95+ Explorers?
