First off, i've finally decided to come to everyone on this lovely forum for help, you see, my 1993 Explorer XLT has loads of "character", before i ask about the other problems, i suppose i should start with the most basic.

So basically, my hood won't pop open when i pull the hood lever(?[The lever under the steering wheel]), i have to have somone push down on the hood over the lock while i pull on the lever at the same time, it's a pain because i can never easily access my engine.

Also, my hood closes lower than it should, and i don't understand why.

My auto shop recently WD-40ed the hell out of the lock, and supposively that worked, but i never got to embrace that. I have the two little bumper knobs that are on the front corners also, but those don't seem to help.

*takes a deep breath*, alright, suggestions?

check the spring arm that pushed up when the hood closes.its in the hood opening that the latch mech goes in .if it is not straight in the center then it will bind when the hood closes. been there!!! loosen the retaining bolt,re-align the tang and re-tighten the bolt.it fixed mine. a little deep creep or wd40 on the latch mech wont hurt either!!:D

Grease on the latch is a big help
