hooking running board lights to puddle's???

Just got finished painting, I'm going to put them on tomorrow but I figured I'd run the wires today. I want them to come on when the puddles do. Looks like a pain in the a** to run the power all the way up to the mirror. What else could I hook them to.

Maybe to the switch that turns on when the door is open

Figured it out the other day. I tapped into the puddle light at the plug in the door. Used a test light till i found the right one.

I thought about doing this also. What do you mean by the "plug in the door"? Where is this plug? All I can think of is finding the correct wire inside the door itself.

When you take the door panel off. On the track for the front part of the window there is a plug that is kind of mounted to it. There is five wires, two on it on your side and three on the side facing the outside of the door. With mine it's two black ones on the side facing the doorskin itself. if I'm remembering right it's the middle wire on the far side of the plug.
