95 EXPLORER 4.0 OV 2 DOOR
I HAVE A 95 EXPLORER 2 DOOR 4WD. I INSTALLED EDELBROCK SHOCKS ON IT BUT THE RIDE IS HORRIBLE. I HAVE RETURNED THEM ABOUT 4 TIMES BECAUSE I FIGURED THEY WERE DEFECTIVE. BUT I GUESS THEY'RE NOT. I LIVE IN NYC AND THERE ARE A LOT OF POTHOLES AND DIPS HERE SO JUST IMAGINE HOW MUCH MY TRUCK BOUNCES. AND IT BOTTOMS OUT EVERYTIME I HIT A HOLE. MY REAR END IS SAGGING WAY TOO MUCH AND I WAS WONDERING IF IT COULD JUST BE THE LEAFSPRING THAT IS DAMAGED. I WAS CONSIDERING A LIFT KIT BUT DONT WANT TO OVER DO IT SINCE I REALLY DON'T GO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

First of all, the Edelbrocks are not shocks you want to buy for a soft ride.
Secondly, you might want to look into a set of Monroe Reflex shocks.
I don't think it's the leaf springs, since my 95 Eddie Bauer has about 120,000miles on 'em.
There's only so much you can do to get a soft ride on a truck based SUV. (I'm assuming you just bought it?)
What tires do you have on there? How many psi are you running in the tires?
The rear-end sag is pretty much a common feature on the explorers. Unless your truck has been abused previously, i'd say there's not much to worry about with regards to the leaf pack. Check the bumpstops to see if they've disintegrated or not.

Last, but not least, please refrain from typing in block letters....it's really hard on the eyes. Thanks! :)

I can deal with the ride being a bit hard it's just that I am sick of bottoming out everytime I hit a pothole. This weekend I was just installing Anti Sway bars and when I looked at the bumpstops I oticed that the chassis is bent from bottoming out so much I guess I am thinking of just getting some new heavy duty leafs

Your frame is bent from bottoming out??? Hmmm....any way you can get some pictures so we have a better idea of what's going on? This one, i've gotta see.

Did you buy your Explorer new? Any chance it was in a severe collision? I have a hard time believing that the frame is bent from the suspension bottoming out unless it bottomed out from someone getting some air in it.

I agree, this must have been hit really hard, or carrying a ton of FAT in the rear! Ouch!

By the way, the Edelbrocks are awesome shocks!
