Hi,
2003 Explorer Sport XLT (stock)
Does anyone know the name/part# of this hose?
(see large diameter hose with a white-ish tape stripe in pic below)
It sits right on the hard plastic dipstick handle (circled in red) which wears the hose's sheathing down, and eventually rubs through the hose itself. I've already replaced it once and now it looks like I'll have to do it again soon.
In the close-up picture, you can see where I've also circled the backside of the hose where it also is getting worn through as it rubs against what looks like a metal nut.
Is it just on my truck, or is this a design flaw on all Explorers?
In other words, are you all having the same problem?
How often do you have to replace the hose?
Is there a cheap way to protect the hose?
(as you can see from the discolored stripe in the photo, I've put metal tape around the hose which slowed it down, but it's worn through that now)
Is there an inexpensive metal sheath or clamp I could put there instead?
Thanks,
cra2
