about the a4ld.....

What is it that goes wrong with them?? What breaks and wears out , what are the early warning signs that you noticed??? just a curious question.

Anything gets old

And an A4LD is pretty old by now. The seals will start to show their age. They were prone to snapping things in the overdrive section. If something didn't snap, they wore pretty well. The low/reverse servo O rings leak in all of them and there is a new updated double lip version, an easy fix. This is indicated by a delayed reverse engagement and loss of engine braking in manual 1. Vacuum modulator starts to leak giving higher shift point in 1 & 2. Speed governor sticks causing late shift to second. Many problems are easy to fix.

Alomost every one has had the seal replaced at one time or another, but overall,Opera house has it on the mark....easy fixes.

Opera or should I say DR

What about the newer ones? That slow reverse I've noticed in mine for quite some time.

Also, what do you mean "easy" fix?
