I want to remove my factory airbox and modify it by cutting several 1" holes in it to increase airflow. How do you get this thing out? I can't see any screws holding it in, but it is attached somehow. I don't want to break anything getting this thing out. What is the correct way to remove this thing? Thanks.

Airbox Removal

Do a search on airbox, you'll find a hundred hits. Your box is like mine, left front with a dimpled cover right? Mine's a 2001 but I think they're the same. First disconnect neg batt terminal, next loosen airbox cover then remove wire harness from MAFS (plastic M/F push clip). Unscrew SS clamp to intake sleeve and also remove the four bolts that holds the MAFS to the airbox cover. Gentle with MAFS unit and set aside (no dirt). Remove cover and filter. Spray some silicone or WD40 on the two of the plastic tangs that anchor the box to the wheel well. Gently work them out first. Now put your hand down the other side of the box and use your fingers to pry the box up. When you reinstall, spray silicone into the rubber anchors below, it will speed the next removal. After you reinstall the battery connection, your computer will learn a new air and fuel trim based on your mods and your foot. HTH
