how do I tell if mine has keyless entry system???

I just picked up a new to me '98 Explorer XLT 4x4. It only came with one key and nothing else. While I have the key problem solved. I want to know how I can tell if my explorer has a keyless entry system? It does not have the door key pad. I am not sure if door keypads came standard with keyless entry system. Is there a way to tell. If so I want to pick up the key fobs for it.

Turn the key to "ON" (not start) back it off one position to then back to on. Do this 8 times if I remember correctly. Do not turn key to position you can pull key out. On the 8th on, leave it in that position. If your car has keyless entry, the door locks should lock and maybe unlock. If it does, you can program a fob. To do that, repeat above and press lock on the fob. Take key out and you are all set.

If locks engage after 6, 7, whatever, stop with that one. If 8 does not work, try 9.

I programmed many an ambulance to respond to a generic ford fob. Really stunk when I accidently hit panic button in a bay with 6 ambulances. 3 responded. When I hit it to turn off, another one went off!

Open up the trunk, open the panel on the left where the jack goes. If you see a metal module with a ton of wires, that's the RAP module. Therefore, you have keyless entry.

You have a metal RAP? I have only ever seen white or gray plastic ones
