My 98 XLT rides extremely bad. It is way to stiff. Just like it doesn't have suspension at all. When I get out of the thing after my 35 mile ride to work every morning I feel like I've been raped by a 300 pound *****. Help me !

i have the same problem...although i dont know what being raped by a 300 pound ***** feels like, but i get the point. i dont think mine is as severe, but it is definately a very rough ride, when i make a turn my 'xploder rocks from side to side....im thinking its shocks, so ill probably have mine replaced, but im gonna pull one off and see how it feels first, just to check. i suggest you do the same, and then maybe check out your springs too.

I thought there was a bounce test something like push it down hard and it should come to the top of the swing and then stop in the middle if the shocks are good.

only thing i can think of would be to add some adjustable shocks to it. rancho 9000's. choose how firm or soft u want it to ride... those torsion bars do ride rough imo. getting rid of them all together really softened up my ride. maybe u should add a solid axle or do the coil over conversion ;) thats probably not what u have in mind but it would help the ride a good bit

i think ur shocks have just leaked all of their oils out .. this wont fix the problem but try removing the shocks and take it for a spin (a mile or so), just go slow and watch the bumps ;) itll be one of the more enjoyable things u do that day (ride w/o shocks). but to solve ur problem, you need new shocks. and dont go overboard with shocks. just get what you can afford and move on. in addition, remember that you do have an SUV - it wont ride like a car .. just the fact that you have a solid axle in the rear says alot about the ride quality (huge unsprung weight = awful daily driver).
