Hi there -

for those who removed or raised the 4.6 v8, how did you do it ?
I see the engine mount is sitting on 1 bolt t the frame, and then it's attached with 2 bolts to the engine. Which one did you loosen ? The mount-to-frame or mount -to-motor ones ?
Also, what did you use as a jacking point ? Oil pan ?
Anything else you removed ?

What a pain that job is ......

Thanks

Haven't had to do the manifolds(yet), but looks that if you take the nut off the stud to frame mount that you would be able to lift the engine as required.
Place a sizable piece of plywood between the jack and oil pan.

I thought the same, just 1 bolt should be easier. I hope it will seat back easily. I read on F150 forum that sometimes it will not come back to the same position and you need to force the motor/stud to the hole in the mount.

Have a long-pry bar? Maybe a 3 or 4 ft length of 1/2" black iron pipe.
These can be as valuable as your favorite BFH.
Don't force the stud. Pry on the mount.
Good luck and let us know how the project ended.

Hopefully soon, I will be able to post a complete feed back on this job, but I had few hours available and was able to remove the starter (10 minute job), and unbolt the passenger side. It turns out that the motor mount is attached to the motor via 4 bolts, and to the frame by 2 bolts with 18 mm nuts. I was able to raise the engine enough to get few more manifold bolts replaced with new ones without breaking them. Once I get all of them loose, I'll go back and change the manifold itself.
