my friends took out my auto transmission but i still need to take out the torque converter?? still for the shop to rebuilt my tranny. what tools should i use to take it out????

That was sure the crude way to do it!

With the starter removed, you have access to the four converter nuts. Engine is turned by ratchet on harmonic balancer. The socket must be very thin wall in order to fully seat on the nut. The starter ring gear interferes with thicker sockets. The new TC must be fully seated in the transmission before the new transmission is installed. There should be at least 1/2 inch clearance from the transmission face to the pilot. Any less and it isn't fully seated.

Yeah what he said

TIP, Use a propane or better yet a mapp torch to heat the 4 torque converter nuts. If you strip one (like I did) You will be a tad upset. I found a 1/4 drive snap on socket to fit the best in there. Its a tough squeeze. Use a deep socket and no extension for the best fit. You may also considder once the nut is hot tapping the socket on with a hammer.
