I tried a search but no such luck. I know a few of you guys have done this, and I would really like to know more about it. It takes about 30 seconds now to shift into 4x4, even when I slightly roll the car back and forth. Anyway, if you could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I am not positive on this but I am pretty sure that the cases are made different, you would have to buy a manual lever t-case and swap in the whole deal! At least that is what I have seen from it, and been told!

Hmmmmm. I thought it was possible to convert. Anyone else know?

Yeah you'll have to have a manual transfer case if that's what your asking. A shifter, cable and that kinda stuff has to be there too. I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but i don't know if i want to or not, as long as i have 4 wheel drive i'm good!! Hope this helps!

Happy trailes!

From what I have seen the adapters between the transmission and the transfer case are different between the manual and electric shift T-case. The manual T-case adapter has a place to mount the shift linkage to and the electric shift version does not. This is just from looking through some shop manuals so I may be wrong but after reading a ton threads on the same subject I have come to the conclusion that it is not possible to convert without changing T-cases.

so does anyone know if you can take the whole manual t-case from say like an 85 broncoII or a ranger and just bolt it up behind my mitsu 5-speed?? a ranger atleast would have the same tranny wouldn't it??

If you look a couple of Posts(10-03-2001) down you will find every thing you need.

the Transfer case from a Bronco II is a BW 13-50 which is smaller than the BW 13-54 that is in the Explorer
