How long did it take you guys to install your fog lights?

How long did it take you guys to install your fog lights?
A friend of mine tells me it will take almost 2 hrs.
I'm planning on putting my fog lights in where the stock fog lights go. Or below the bumper. I would put it in them in the airdam but my friend tells me that it will rust.

that just depends....on the last set I did it took about an hour with a few stops. It's not too hard of a job. It all depends on how clean you do it. As for where you're mounting them.....what year do you have?? I would try to stick with the stock location or the airdam. Mounting them below can cause some problems with the wires and water. I wouldn't worry so much about rust. Just don't do like I did and end up with a cheap set. You can tell the difference in the light with a more expensive one.

BTW....where in Utah do you live anyways??? I'm from Vegas so you're not too far away as long as you're not in the north.

It depends a lot on the brand you purchase... my first set of lights I ever installed was Hella 500's... took us darn near 6 hours (although admittadly an hour and a half was spent trying to get the wires through the firewall... which may be your hardest challenge as well. Now I've installed so many sets of lights (lets see.... one pair of Hellas... 2 pairs of PIAA in my 98 F-150... 7 sets of PIAA's in my Explorer... one seto f PIAA's in my co-workers dodge... and a few other sets of PIAA's here and there, I can honestly say that once I get the wire run through the firewall (usually doesn't takem ore then 20-30 minutes now that I know what im looking for) I can do the rest of thei nstallation in about 15-20 minutes. Not too shabby. If I could go back and re-install a set of Hella 500's, it'd probably take me 2-3 hours.

Yeah this kid thats gonna do it for me does a good job. He has the same fog lights as I do, And they are a cheap set.(Im a cold hearted B**terd. I have a 97 Explorer. If i wanted to sell my explorer, Would a dealership take a car with fog lights on them?

Yeah i live up north, About a mile for the entrance of Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Yeah my friend says he has to make me brackets and put the switch in, firewall, etc.

Rather than messing with the firewall I ran the wire up under the body of the truck and in through a drain hole under the front seat. I used more wire than I would using the firewall, but saved about an hour.

by the way, if you hate running through the firewall, PIAA also makes a remote switch so you mount a remote in the car, one under the hood which acts as the "relay" and no need to run wires through the firewall. Another good option, but a fair warning. They are big so if you have more then 2-3 sets you'll start having trouble finding places to mount them. Also, mine apparently used the same code as someones garage door opener or something. Occasionally they would just turn on and not go off until the battery died... I fixed that by re-wiring them so they could only be turned on when the vehicle was turned on.
