my 05 v6 4wd just went on me at 92k....gonna have an independent trans. shop do it for around the usal $2800 12/12 warranty.....thats 4 months for me as im in the limo biz...just came over from the town car...indestructible trans and engine going 250/350 orig....always mercron 5...I drive mostly hwy and gentle on gas/accel...I luv this car, especially in bad weather and I have the 3 bunk /leather...

So I'm curious with all trans. shop being different .. how have other Explorer owners done with rebuilds?

Make sure they install bronze sleeves in the intermediate and overdrive servo bores. That will help it to last much longer.

thanks for the heads up...just spoke to machinic...she's on the lift right now pulling trans.out..mentioned it to him...he's got to see what's what...gear box, servo etc..
