Seriously though, what engine do you have? I believe the stock alternator on a sohc puts out 150 amps. OHV i believe is like around 130 amps. I don't know about the V-8. I think the most you can get for the sohc and ohv in an aftermarket alternator is 200 amps. Don't quote me on any of that though. :) Another thing that would help is an optima battery.

EDIT: Reading that, it dosen't really help you out much does it. Sounds like your wondering how many watts you can run off a stock alternator. Sorry, I don't know too much about that.

Running that kind of load requires a solid electrical investment, like a 1 farad cap (at the minimum), a new battery (or a dual setup), and probably a new alternator (a 215/220 might drop right in).
Good luck and post some pics!

well acually a capo isnt needed because if i run a yellow top in the back it would act as a capisator and i would need a 2 farad cap because ill be running about 2000 watts ......... and a 200a alternator would be fine I can get one from mr alternator.com

and as for skills I have 8 months telemarketing experiance...... and 6 months cashier experiance (im only 18) Im seriously thnking about like wendy's or mickey d's......... my job at ups is fine and ive been there for like a month and a half but I need something else so that I can get my 401k started and get my car pimped out

2000 watts max or rms? a capacitor is always good to have with a system, it prolongs the life of the battery and gives you a little more voltage. getting a better alternator is one of the best things you can do for your system to get the most out of your amp(s).

2000 rms my subs can handel that......I have a red top in my acura i think its dead tho but red tops have no memory......so. im really thnking about putting it in my explrer and puting the stock battery back in the acura goos idea or no?

One of my friends that works in car audio said that they've had a lot of problems with the redtops... Once they die they're dead... He said to either get a yellow top or a stinger battery...

Its a lightning audio deep cycle/ starter.... and its went dead before anfd i recharged it

The deep cycle battery should work well. However, be aware that if you fully drain the deep cycle battery by leaving lights on, etc, you may not be able to jumpstart the X. Last time, I had to fully charge the battery with a AC Battery Charger because it seemed that the drained battery was taking all the juice from the jumpstart and the car wouldn't start.

As for the Alternator, if you are going to run 1000w+ then, save up for a high output alternator. I used to run about 1000watts-2000watts and I would fry my stock alternators. (I had three Rockford Amps going and my subs were wired to one amp pushing only about .5ohm to the bridged amp. so that was sucking up juice. The Rockford amps can handle the low ohms.)

In my honest opinion, i don't think you'll ever be pushing 2000 watts

....what are u talking about i could go up to quality auto sound right now and get my bix dropoed for $15 A guy hit 153db with 2 Id max's and a 2000 watt amp.... my subs handeal 1000 rms each nikot peak they handel 1800 peak.... my hifonics hercules is optimised for 1 ohm and puts oput 1000 at 2ohm's my subs have dual 4 ohm voice coils........2 of them 2000 easy.... a hifoncs nemisis (forgot model number ) puts 0ut 1000x4 kicker comps could handel 100 and with a eq can be ran mid bass drivers in the back .....with that and my amp at 1 ohm 1900 watts just 100 watts short........ not to metntionI could pull out my old sonyh subs brige them into my jensen amp that i already have on my amp wall art 2 ohm 360 watts and hit 1860 right now not includint the inside speakers so..........2000 watts easy

ohhhhh and for current
Im running 2 gage wire to a street wires fused power and ground distribution block with 4 4guage out for power and ground with agu fuses i can special order 2 80 amp fuses of that type........with another lightning audio battery because it would be wstupid to get 2 yellow tops.... becuase i live in colorado and yellow tops dont have enough cold cranking amps (but u already knew that)

waiiiiit lets go deeper
a 200a alternator form mr.alternator.com for a ford explorer is $225 ($270 with red coating and shiping) a lightning audio deep cycle is $159 a 200a isolator is like $200 so for 600 my electircal problem is solved ...

anything else u wanna know like my social or something ????????
Know what your posting about before u say anything

damn man! That's some serious stereo equipment! Just make sure you use protection for your ears if you're in the car jamming loud...i know i regret not wearing ear muffs when i had my system.
