Whelp, I'm an idiot. My wife rear-ended someone with her 2006 XLS 4.0 hard enough to make the airbag deploy. We were quoted $8,500 to fix. I'm the idiot because I didn't put collision insurance on the truck. Now I'm scrambling and trying to figure out what to do with the truck while the storage fees are adding up.

We had a family friend offer $500 for the truck, but I think he's lowballing like woah. The car has less than 70,000 miles on it, he could sell the engine and recoup the loss, then part out the rest and take a bath in the money. Or am I being unrealistic?

Anyone have experience with this situation? Should I just get rid of it for the $500 and be done with it? I really don't have the space or the desire to have the truck sit in my yard while I try to sell parts. Is there a Kelly Blue Book for wrecked cars?

Thanks in advance!
