How much is too much tightening? Tranny coolant line

I think thats what mine is doing.

I do not want to dump the coin right now for a new radiator considering this one is brand new.

Hmm since it isnt pressured I wonder if a little sealant around the big nut would stop the tiny leak.

Well I put a wrench on the smaller nut that houses the flared end and it actually turned a decent amount so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that was were the tiny leak was coming from.

Probably not but one can hope.

When I installed the new radiator on mine, the instructions had some ridiculously low torque rating for the fittings that screwed into the radiator. Both of them leaked. I don't know how tight I ended up getting them but I remember putting everything I had into cranking that wrench before the leaks stopped. There was concern over stripping he threads or breaking something but, if it was going to leak, it wasn't going to do me any good anyway.

Permatex makes a sealant that withstands trans fluid, gasoline, etc. I used it on my 5.0 Mountaineer a few years ago when I replaced my radiator. The cooler lines leaked with aftermarket radiator. IT's been fine ever since.
