How much should a transmission rebuild cost?

Looking for a good shop to rebuild my transmission any jersey or nyc guys here? And what should i be looking to spend?

Last time I was quoted on one it was $2,600 for a '96 about 4 years ago, and I'd guess the prices are higher now, and higher in your area than here.

I would try to get a Tranny online. They are usually cheap. Then see if you have, or could find a decent mechanic to do the install for you at a good price. Check Salvage Yards also.
