I sometimes have to carry alot of construction material for work in my F250. I usually limit how much i carry to 2000 lbs, but ocaisonally go up to 2200 or 2300. Mostly it's bags of cement, sand, or blocks.

Today, I hauled a pallet of flagstone with a tagged weight of 3400 lbs. without a problem.

What's the most you've carried in a 3/4 ton truck? How much is too much?

7000lbs of Gravel.

Yes, it's too much.

If the load is disributed evenly on all wheels you can carry a lot more than 1500 lbs. Not nesacarily safely though.

The tow capacity on my f150 is almost 2000lbs...tow around 7k. I'd think the 250 would be a good deal better

This doesn't really go towards your F-250 directly, but at work we work on company fleets (electrical, construction, etc.) and they usually only drive 3/4 ton Vans. Well, they forget this and load it up with a lot of material that hardly a 1 ton could handle and they end up burning the trans fluid and needing a transmission. I mean, even when you test drive these things, you know their vans shouldn't have a lot of power, but with them loaded down like that it is insane. I would just try to keep it as light as possible - but those superdutys are one of the best towing vehicles around.
