hey all .... bit of good news ,my father earlier this year bought a camper and found out that it needs repair and has now bought a new motorhome rv and now is giveing the camper to me :biggthump...( grin ) but heres the problem .

i got two trucks.. my colorado and the x neither of them i know can not tow the camper ( 31 ft total lenght dual axle ,sorry i don't know the weight of the camper ) so...... i could tow the camper with the chevy around the driveway
to postion it and as for the explorer...well i rather not replace a expensive rebuilt unit thats not made for towing .....so in time i will need a towing truck for the "death star" ( lol) .

i thought maybe the 4x4,stock wheel size, 5 speed explorers, either a first generation or later v-8 models would have the umph to tow something like this or am i barking up the wrong tree and need a full size truck.

if i got to buy another truck then would rather i buy a ford hopefully.... another explorer but what do ya'll think about this ??

thanks.

Sup Boggs, not sure how old you are, but if it's that big of a camper, doesn't sound like you'll be moving it all to often (meanign huge trips and across town). If you're old enough, I'd just rent a truck with a hitch that can move it. You don't have to worry about the wear and tear on it, and you save money instead of buying a whole nother vehicle. You'll save on insurance each month, and the cost of renting a vehicle every now and again versus paying for gas all the time, insurance, and upkeep I think woudl be in your favor. But I'm not sure what your options are.

I think though, you really should figure out the weight of it so everyone here who knows what they're talking about can make an accurate guess.

well i hope at the ripe old age of 39 i'll be able to go rent one :p: !

i have thought about that route ,renting a truck does has it's advantages.
i just figured that i could buy a cheap pulling truck and keep it parked till needed, something along the lines of the x but maybe a older f250 .i've just a got alot of ideas about all of this and wanted some advice and also i'll get the camper weight asap .
