You need to get the PCM flashed with the setting removed. The dealer won't do it so you need to get some sort of customizable flash tuner (i.e. ExCal III). To look further into it you can contact James at Henson Performance, he should be able to help you out with that... He is a site vendor that sells tunes and tuners.
As for where it's set at, I remember reading somewhere that it is around 110? That could be for a different generation though.
Mine shuts off at 110 (109.xx) don't know why you would want to go faster as it gets very light at that speed. I suppose that if you lowered it and did some body mods it would be fine but really just buy a car at that point.
I think only the us manufacuted ones have a speed limiter. My '96 has a Canandian origin sticker in the door sill and I've done 135 in it with out hitting a limiter. Yes that was a very long time ago when the truck was still stock, and like tower said it get really really light at those speeds. I started to feel like I was in a boat, so not cool that fast.
hmmm my 02 sport doesnt feel "light" at its cut off point which is like 100 dead on, it feels quite stable actually....what could someone doto improve the aerodynamics of an ex? would an air dam be of benefit, maybe a belly pan or something? hmmm i have a new intrest lol
Not sure I would want to go 135 in a stock x and am somewhat sceptical that the x has the power to push it that fast as it has the aerodynamics of a brick.
in perfect conditions, with some downhill help, mine got up to the 130mph area with the mods listed in my signature, and it was all it could do while on flat/slightly uphill interstate.
LOL yes it was with a downhill assist. I was comming out of a pass in Montana and it was like a 3% downgrade and a flat at the bottom. It was like 3 miles of a straight starting at the top of the pass. I was only ever able to get to about 120 on flat ground. It didn't start to feel "light" till around the 130+ mark, and 100 was always smooth for the truck. Of course this is all back before it got lifted and tires which kinda kill anything over 80 lol.
Gen 3s flip over??? Don't see how they would be more pron to that then any other SUV and most likely less likely then most. My x does not feel top heavy at all.

Yeah, I'd have to agree.
Not to mention the fact that they made the wheelbase wider for the 3rd gens to cure this little flip over issue. (or at least make it harder to do.)
Mine feels like you could hit it with a bus and the damn thing wouldn't flip.
It's not like we're talking about a sidekick here.
yea i guess the limits are different cuz with my old tires it cut out at 105... it could prolly go about 110 now since i have the larger tires and it offsets the speedo... and yea the 3rd gens were made wider and the 4X4 auto systems were improved to tame rollover issues... im sure it can still flip if u try hard enough but its definitely much improved
idk..i've drivin a 2nd gen pretty hard and yea theres a lot of movement but my truck seems that i could flip over w/ a quick movement of the steering wheel
not to long ago i was drivin going like 65...car almost hit me i jerked the steering wheel to the left and right and i felt the body just roll a lot..i kinda felt like it was going to roll, scared the **** outta me
I've had my 2nd gen leaning around 60* and it still didn't lay down, that pavement comes up real fast, I had to stop and let me heart settle down a bit after that one.
