Well the title pretty much says it all. I want to know how to bypass my stock amp so that I can hook up my new amp and sub. If someone could tell me this ASAP or send me a link on exactly how to do it. That would be most appreciated. Like I said I would like to hook it up and, when I bought my door speakers from Crutchfield they sent a thing for installation, and it had a part about bypassing the stock amp for when you want to put in a sub or another amp for your door speakers. Thanks for your time. I will check back here later once I get home to see if there are any replies thank you.

u can buy a bypass harness, i had the same problem. i got advice from a bunch of people on here but nothing worked, i ended up running new speaker wires.

I don't know on first gen X's but on 95 & up you only had to bypass the factory amp if you had the premium sound system. The easy way to tell is if you had a sub in the right rear interior panel or cargo storage cubby hole.

If you have the sub you have the premium system. The easiest way to bypass it is with a bypass harness. You should be able to find it at Wal-Mart Best Buy & Circuit City.

Crutchfield should have asked you if you needed this to begin with.

I have a real cargo storage cubby hole. Well they probably didn't ask because my speakers are connected into the stock amp I think. If anyone can help me please do I want to hook this thing up tonight.

Ok, now my next question is does anyone know how to manually bypass the factory amp without getting a bypass harness. I know there is a way by switching some of the wires around, but just don't know which ones. If someone could tell me this or find a wiring digram that would be very helpful.

By the way I do not need the premium sound, and the reason i'm asking how to bypass it is so that it will not over power my door speakers, because it is going from my aftermarket HU to the amp to my speakers. So I just want it to go straight to my speakers without running new wire.

Also I have called bestbuy, and walmart and they don't supply a bypass harness.

I just ran new wire to each speaker. You will probably get better sound, if you use new speaker wire.

Dude call crutchfield up & buy a bypass harness, they are cheap & don't fail, & you don't hack your wires.
It's very simple.
They will even give you full install instructions to get to the amp & the speakers & the radio & even the antenna.

They may even give it to you free if you say you forgot about it when you bought the speaker from them.

Make sure you don't need to bypass it first. Since you do not have the premium sound system you may not need to.

I'm 99% sure you need it. You'll know if you have square & rectangle factory plugs behind the HU.

Have you got that system in yet?
