Hey all, I'm in need of some help. I've found threads about replacing "speed control sensor" on master cylinder, and fixing the problem. My ABS light has been on and off for about 2 weeks, and now sometimes when I step on brake with normal pressure it pulsates like its trying not to lock-up. I borrowed a scanner from a friend (Cen-Tech 98614) and can't really figure out how to use it. Checked for codes and said no stored or pending codes. Nothing about ABS. I'm wondering if it could be wheel speed sensor in rear end, but don't like spending $$ not knowing if it actually needs replacing, even if it is only $40. Could it be a vacuum issue with power booster? I would appreciate any help or advice, even opinions. Thanks guys

Two consumer ABS scanner comes to mind, one is Acton ABS standalone scanner and other is Equis with ABS combo.
If you don't want to spring for scanners I would replace the sensor on the master cylinder, it only cost about $20 at dealer. That's the primary culprit. I've got a 03 also and had same the ABS off and on until I replaced sensor at master cylinder. If it isn't bad now it"ll be soon based on other owner's experiences. It may also be the wheel speed sensor but that a couple of dollars more. I figure even if you did both you still come out ahead since you didn't have to pay a dealership or independent mechanic.

I bought the Innova 3150 off Amazon for $160 shipped. It read mine as a LF speed sensor signal missing. It was a bad bearing, but the ABS light was always on.
