How to: Computer Relocation in 1st Gen Explorer

since it was mentioned about trying to retain the glove box, but ive never actually seen anyone do it i thought id share my go at it

I thought I would throw my $.02 in here for extending the cable length. It was mentioned that no one would want to cut and splice the eec iv harness, and who would blame them, but here is an idea that could possible retain your glove box and move the computer somewhere else, depending on your application:

This is an extension harness for the eec-iv. It's actually a ford rotunda tool set, part number 007-00081. It comes in a case called a 'monitor adapter set' and is used to extend the eec-iv harness when hooking up a breakout box, ect., to the vehicle. The tool kit comes with the two cables, each about 24 inches long, and are in series, so you can hook two up for 4 ft extension.

And the best part is i bought the tool kit off ebay for about 50 bucks. Granted, im using it for different purposes, but this is another alternative.
