how to guides for general maintnence???

I am looking for online how-to guides for general maintnence, like changing radioator hoses, valve cover gaskets, timing cover gasket, transmission pan gasket, and front end ball joints.

sounds good. Have any of you ever done any of these procedures, and how easy/difficult were they?

it all depends on the year, and the procedure and your tool availability and experience. What is easy to a seasoned mechanic might be daunting to a newbie. Start with things like the gaskets on your list. Ball joints are not in the "easy" category for a newbie (in my opinion) and you need special tools. (You can borrow them from Autozone in most cases - but still it's not a newbie task - at least not for most newbies.)

The advice to buy a Haynes manual is a good advice.
