my 98 EB 4x4 4.0 SOHC gets about 17-19hwy and 10-13city according to the center console display thing. its pretty stock except for the 31x10.5 tires (which may help hurt the milage) nad i have the brown wire mod so its strieght up RWD. it has 125k miles on it.

im gonna change the plugs and wires today after i replace all the brakes.

anything else i can do to help the gas milage at all? i drivr 40 miles each way to work and sick of paying almost $20 a day to go to work.

I drive 60 miles each way every day in my '98 sport, so I feel your pain. I average around 17.6 mpg.

The fuel filter would be something else I'd replace. Although you're right inline with where you should be. The joy of full-sized SUVs.

main things that will give u some mileage is air intake, exhaust, throttle body and headers b/c they all restrict air flow and when u restict that ur engine has to work harder and use more gas

Ive heard that putting 2-3 fl. oz. of acetone into each tank of gas can also help a good amount. Apparently it breaks the surface tension? of the gas, allowing it to be atomized better. Ive heard that gains can be from 2-3 mpg, which sounds too good to be true, but im about to try it starting in my next tank. Also, since it can be used as a paint thinner, make sure to have it in a container that wont spill on the side of the car. A lot of people get measured plastic bottles and use them to pour into the gas. Put it in before you fill up, because it is less dense than gas and will sit at the top of the tank for a while if you put it in after filling up. I dont have any scientific proof for this, I just heard this from a lot of people, and I just asked my mechanic if it worked and his eyes lit up and said YEAH. Im hopeful. Good luck.
