my explorer is only getting about 10mpg. It is a 93 xlt 4wd with 33x12.50 all terrain tires. Does anyone have any suggestions on what will actually help? I read in howstuffworks.com that none of the tornado filters or anything help. Thanks

The only real way to improve mileage is to keep your foot out of gas. But with 33's its pretty hard. One way that might help is by swaping in some new gears. (I assume you are running stock gears) Another possible way is by putting in synthetic fluids in everything possible. (Engine, trans, rear end)
