i know these things have some sag to them, and i know its been discussed on here but i cant find the info i need. im sure each one of our explorers dont sag the same amount in the rear. and next year id like to put a slightly more aggressive tire on mine but id like to level out the rear first. so how do i measure the rear to make it level withthe front? is having the same wheel gap front and back enough to make it level? also i was thinking of going with a larger shackle in the rear. if say i raise the rear 1 inch is it enough to get a shackle that 1 inch longer?

get the 2" shackles in the rear. and the torsion twist in the front. and when you get better tires it will be cool. and no more sag.

cool thanks man, where do i order a set of shackles that wont break the bank?

measure from the tire to the wheel well.

get the warrior #153 shackles. JcWhitney will have them but they arent on there website so you have to order over the phone.

and warrior are the strongest. you can get cheap auto zone ones but for something that is holding your leaf springs to your car you want the best.

excellent thanks smith. so i just measure and then when i order the difference is the extra length i ask for correct? do the jc whitney units come with bushings in them and new bolts or do i need to order that seperatly?

When you order the shackles ask for the 2 inch warrior shackles part number 153. you dont have to do any measurements yet until you do the torsion twist. and it will come with everything you need to install them. and if you need it check this

it helped me a lot.

perfect thanks bud. appreciate it :)

no problem

I tried to order these shackles and they said that they will not work with my 01 Explorer Sport.

Torsion Twist

I am assuming this means cranking in the adjuster bolt on the torsion sping..??

If so, how does this affect ride and handling?

Sorry for highjacking, But I am interested in both...Shackles and TT.

wait a minute,,

before you buy shackles , take a good look at your springs,
are they all sagged out and flat?
are they w shaped,
cause if they are either of those shackles will make it even worse,

i would suggest making sure they are not all sagged out before putting on shackles,,

My Explorer doesn't sag at all. I just need another inch or so to clear my new tires. They rub a little.

Does anyone have a part number for the AZ shackles since it doesn't look like warrior still offers them. I have a 2001 Explorer Sport.

Before you go ahead and buy the AZ shackles- call your dealer. When I was buying shackles for my 2-door, I found that the OEM Ford shackles were cheaper from the dealer than AZ wanted for their stuff...

I want to raise my truck 1 or 1.5 inches that is why I want new shackles.

So I found a set of the warrior 153 shackles. Will the they work with an 01 Sport?

Just need a simple yes or no if these will work for an 01 Sport.
