I have a 2002 eddie bauer explorer 8 cylinder . I need to program 2 ford factory keyless entry remotes. Can I do this myself or do I need to go through the dealer? If I can do myself, how? Thanks.

This is from the ford website:

To program the transmitters yourself:

Insert a key in the ignition and turn from (LOCK) to (ON) and cycle between (LOCK) and (ON) eight times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds) with the eighth turn ending in the (ON) position. The doors will
lock/unlock to confirm that programming mode has been entered.

Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any button on a transmitter. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated.)

Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.

When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn the ignition to (LOCK) or wait 20 seconds. Again the doors will lock/unlock to confirm programming has been completed.

Hope this helps you out.

remote entry issue

I have a 2002 sport trac with remote start. When using the remote entry all doors look and unlock except the driver door and the starter works. The keypad also does not work and does not light up at all. The dealer said to replace the remote starter and all fobs (like I'll really do that). Any recommendations on a solution?

I bought a new key less remote for my 02 mountaineer and just went to program it and after turning the key on off on eight times the locks cycle but neither remote make the truck respond? My keyless entry was working fine with my original remote and now neither can be programmed? Any ideas?

My fix was figured out bu disconnecting the negative battery cable for one minute then my fob responded first attempt at programming
