Anybody? time is of the essence here, help a guy out

Are you just removing the tranny out of the explorer or are you tearing down the al4d

Remove the bell housing bolts, 4 torque converter nuts, driveshaft, transmission mount, catalytic converter, rear cross member, 2 transmission lines, linkage, vacuum line, and electrical plugs. It might be a good idea to disconnect the transfer case from the transmission, and drain all of the fluid first.

wow you make it seem easy. When taking the trans off of the transfer case, do i disconnect at the rear of the tranny or beginning of transer case (there is like a little link between them from what i see)any idea on how many bellhousing bolts? I know they are gonna be a pain so i would like to know exactly how many im lookin for. Thanks so much for your help

The output shaft goes into the transfer case through the 4 X 4 extension housing where the governor is located. It slides into it just like the drive shaft does. The top of the bell housing has 2 bolts that are a little tricky to get to. I use sockets with universal joints connected to them (U joint socket set). Some people just use a regular socket with a wobble extension. You have to remove the starter to get to the torque converter nuts. The starter bolts hold the bell housing to the engine on that side. The opposite side has some bolts. The bottom doesn't have bolts. All together there aren't too many bolts.

Get a transmission jack. The cheap ones would be of a great help.

Yep, that's the one that I got also. It's cheaper on Ebay.
