How to remove radio in 2002?

How do I remove the stock radio in a 2002 to replace it with an aftermarket one?

From what I have read I guess the entire front part pops off... how do you do this?

You can go to Radio Shack or any other car audio place and purchase the OEM tools for pulling the radio out. There should be two vertical sets of holes on both sides of the radio. You just purchase the tools and insert them and it pulls out quite easily. The tools cost about $10. Just tell them you need Ford stereo removal tools.

No, 3rd gens no longer use these

Spot just do a search here in the forum, there are threads with pics and diagrams in them explaining exactly what to do

i use a butter knife so i don't dent the trim around it panel then pry's it up, start on the side and work your way around.

I got it last night, took a lot of prying.

Anyways now I have a question. I got a Metra harness for what I thought was my radio. I have a regular XLT (no sub in the back) but when I took the stock radio out it had two connectors, the main one and another one that was full sized but only had two wires coming out of it.

I have it hooked up without it right now and everything seems to be fine, but what is the other harness for?

big block there should be vss and steering wheel controls. . . .
Really don't need it unless you have steering wheel or the rear DVD.
