I have a 2000 Explorer. As you may have read in an earlier post, my AM is on the blink. I would like to know if there is a replacement that is "kinda" factory looking. Maybe I'm old fashioned about that. What the heck. Tell me which radio would do me a really good job and if there would be a need for a faceplate kit of some kind. I need a CD player, which I hardly ever use, and AM and FM. The AM is the most important to me, as I listen to talk/news radio. I don't really care about a light show on the display.
Thanks for the advice in advance!

Why not buy a stock CD player off eBay? It would be cheapest and an easy connection.

That's what I'm thinking, too. But, I keep seeing these post about better aftermarket units cheaper. Cheaper than EBAY?

Hmm, haven't heard of that, but it's possible. Most aftermarkets offer more then OEM units, and deliver much better sound, but require custom wiring or a factory harness adapter that's not the cheapest thing.

I gotta 2003 OEM CD/Tape collecting dust. make me an offer :)

Will a 2003 radio fit a 2000???

?? I dunno if its a direct replacement, I've owned rangers (last was an 2000) and a 2002 X. Its a tape/cd/deck. I pulled it out the 1st week and popped and MP3 deck in.

I'll be going Nav soon so the mp3 is going.

do you still have the 2003 OEM cd/tape deck? How much are you asking for it?

Poor AM reception

I've been told that the fix on for the display going out also fixes the AM reception...look at:
