How to replace courtesy light bulb in '01 Sport trac?

How do you replace the light bulb? the light bulb points up and after going to Auto zone last night I know the part number is 912, but we could not figure out how it comes out. It does not appear to pull out or twist out. This is for a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport trac. Thanks!!

Looking at pictures of the 912 bulbs online, it's the kind that just pulls out.
Maybe you just need to wiggle it a little bit.

you can't pull out the bulb. The bulb is pointing upwards and you can only access the bottom side and the bulb does not want to twist or pull out.

Ok, I'm confused about exactly which bulb you are trying to replace on your truck.

it is one of the bulbs where it shows the exterior temperature and direction (overhead console).

If you are talking about these bulbs, I would think you might have to get them from a Ford dealership. But, I have never had to replace one in one of my trucks yet.

I do have a problem with the thin metal contacts that they get the electricity from being broken. But I haven't replaced those yet. I find I can just wiggle the bulb to get it working again.
