OK guys I found these instructions on, of all places a boat site (offshore). I am not sure if this has been posted before. It seems there is a manufacturer procedure I'm sure for diagnostics that unlock the head unit. Now before you jump all over me about safety don't. I do not recommend changing nav address while driving. However it is very inconvenient when my wife is in the car and I need to put in an address and I can't I have to pull over to do it. they should have found a way to have a sensor in the passenger seat that allows that function to be enabled. What the below instructions allow is to unlock a diagnostic or factory mode. Be advised there are many options you actually can change the color and even the shape of the buttons not to mention many other things that I don't know what they would do so be careful. On the main screen you'll see where you can shut off the navigation safety features. Be aware this is not permanent as it states in the below instructions every time you restart the vehicle you'll have to do step 5 & 6 again to turn off the safety features for navigation it only takes a second and can be done while in motion. Again I am not condoning anyone to change addresses or try to put in addresses while driving that's unsafe and you can cause an accident. This should only be used when you have a passenger in a vehicle for obvious safety concerns. DISCLAIMER: This works on my 08 OEM head unit I have an 08 adrenalin I have no idea if it works on other units. You also do not hold me responsible if you start pushing buttons a screw up your head unit use with caution and above all be safe.

1. Take vehicle outside and agree to nav instructions. The gps needs to know its position.

2. Push hard nav button (on right side of radio). Go to your address book. Pick any of one of your saved addresses. Now that address is highlighted, look to right and push soft edit button. You will now see name of saved address.

3. Clear name of saved address and type in F-DEVELOP ON
(make sure to put space between DEVELOP and ON).

4. Now look to the upper left corner and you will see the word ADDRESS. Place your finger directly under the A and hold. If you do this right, the screen should change to the map screen.

5. Now push your hard menu button (on left side of radio). Across top of radio push soft SECURITY button. You have now entered security screen. You will see nothing in the right bottom most corner of nav screen. Push your finger and hold in that position till the screen changes.

6. You now have entered a parameter screen. Locate DRIVING RESTRICTIONS release. When you push the button it should change to driving restrictions stop. Exit the screen by pushing the soft BACK button.

7. Congrats you have just programmed your factory nav radio. NOTE: Every time you turn your vehicle off, you will need to repeat steps 5 & 6.

Anybody try this yet?

Yeah the guy who posted it. Oh wait thats me. What do you mean has anybody tried this why dont you try it. Don't be scared.

I will be trying this on my 2010 STA later on today... If my head unit blows up I am suing BigV for everything he has. I will also be suing him if this work and I drive myself into a pole by entering an address while driving.

Feel free you can't get blood from a stone :)

Stuck on step 4. I've tried pressing and holding beneath the A of address but nothing happens...

I have a lockpick installed so that could be why it's not working, but something is telling me it just won't work with the 09/10 nav units.

That is possible mine is a 08 and they may have upgraded the os causing it to be activated differently or not at all.

2007 sport trac

worked for me.
Now how do we get rid of the AGREE page when the GPS is first initiated?

That I don't know but it doesn't bother me.

Other changes

Have you tried other changes?
I'm not sure what the other options mean so I'm reluctant to poke around too much.

You can change colors and pick ford mercury or Lincoln look bit the changes reset when you then the truck off. To much hassle to be honest. This is just a factory work around for dealer testing I believe.
