I have some plans for my X and wanted to see what other people thought or if has been done before. First I have a 95 4x4 4door. I want to throw some 20s on it and lower it down so it sits right on them (5 inches front, 4 rear?). Then I already have a billet grill but want one for the bumper too. Clear corners of course. Now the thing I really want opinions on is the paint job. I've been thinking of colors and stuff and came up with something. I'm thinking a paint job like the last body style F150 harley davisons with the two tones. I want dark blue up top and a light tan on the bottom. I have tan interior so I am thinking it should look nice, but not too sure. Tell me what you guys think. Oh and I want to paint the mirrors as well as the the bumpers and the upper part on the rear corners that isn't painted on the 95s. Thanks alot.

unless you do some major stuff, that 4x4 isnt going to even sit 4-5" lower...... its not possible...

Even if you swap to 2wd I don't think you'll tuck 20's with a 4/5 without at least some trimming. I think the color scheme would look good. With 20's and custom paint I think you may ned to step up the interior a bit. Maybe add some blue to the inside. Visors, part of the door panels, usually it doesn't take much, but a custom color on the inside can bring it all together.

go the other way and lift it ;)

I have a 98 sport 2wd with 20x9s wrapped in 275/45/20 rubber (little thicker sidewall), and I just BARELY manage a 4/3 (maybe a little more in front) drop with some ride quality. I have about an inch of travel up front and a few in the rear. Especially on that 4x4... good luck.

That paint scheme would look mighty good. Lowering it 4/3 instead of 5/4 would look as good if not better IMO.

Well I am not worried with how low is it as much as the rims being tucked in nice. I'm not trying to drive a low rider but just prefer the way 20s look dropped than 22s and not. But I do want the front dropped an inch more than the rear. So 3 inches front and 2 in the rear should look good? And what should I use to drop it? (what blocks/springs/shocks?) Thanks alot.

As for the interior, I am not into painting pieces but I'll think of something. Maybe go with a black/tan exterior and go with some black carpet and trim or something inside.

I gather you haven't look under there yet. Your '95 has no springs. 2" blocks in the rear will do nicely and do the Tortion Twist up front.

Shocks? Well, while you are at it, do a search on that too. You'll find plenty of opinions on that subject. :)

Torsion twist :)You can do it yourself, and you will just need an alignment.

You keep forgetting you have 4x4... you just can't lower it that much without ruining your drivetrain. Either swap it out for 2WD or max drop 2" without destroying your CV joints or anything major. Doesn't matter what your truck looks like if it can't go anywhere, right?

Bag it, don't know if there's a problem with 4x4s and bags though

I proved this therory :(

I think the bags would go right where the cv axles are, so thats a no go. Listen to Draft. He's no dummy. :) Drop it 2 MAYBE 2.5, But any more, and the frontr axles won't take it for very long.

Damn that sucks. Maybe I'll have to go with 22s then so it fits better. Anyone have a pic of an explorer with 20s dropped 2"? Thanks.

Oh and does anyone know what offset I should look for for 20x8.5s? Thanks.

Use the search function, maybe? (this covers just about all your questions)

But I'll be nice, the offset you should look for is +14mm/15mm, both work and look nice right out to the fender. +35mm will get you at stock placement.
