Last nite i was driving and all of a sudden my HU stopped working and it came up as "Hi Temp" this is the first time this has ever happen to a headunit of mine, I thought maybe it was my amp that was getting over heated but it never happened before to me... What made it get to hot?? my cds were pretty hot to when i took them out of my headunit. but i think its cool that they have a thing to know when to shut off before it gets way to hot.

Is it the stock premium sound system or the JBL sound system... if you run the system continuously, although rare, is likely to overheat. Give the head unit some recovery and I'm sure that'll do the trick.

I had that happen before on a few aftermarket head units. They didn't like playing CD's for 18 straight hours with the heater on.

yea just did it again and i keep my cd player on the whole time, never listen to anything but my cd's.... but it doesnt do it when i play the radio only cds. and i can always smell like a burning smell. and i take the hu face off and its like burning hot, but its fine when i like it cool down... so i guess thats what i have to do then
