HU questions

I just bought this flip out LCD HU for my 2003 Mercury Mountaineer, Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD ,I've heard that these are a little more difficult to install then regular HU's,anyone have one of these?I also bought the wiring harness for it,but I heard you still have to cut and splice some wires,any truth to this?thanks for any replies

PM BeauJ if he doesnt reply in here. he has one and just recently installed it. my avic wasnt hard at all to install, just a lot of wires to run, no splicing except for the parking break lead which i grounded out so i could watch movies.
