Anyone know of an aftermarket HU that'll work with the OEM 6 disc changer? My wife's HU decided it was sick of working this weekend and I've gotta replace it. Money's tight though and I can't replace the chager too, so I need an HU that'll work with the OEM changer.

Any ideas? Thanks,

buy an OEM head unit... cheap and it works with the changer =) (eBay)

if you buy an aftermarket HU i doubt you'll get it to work with changer... I got an alpine 7892 HU and i couldn't find any way to get it to work with changer... so i just sold the changer.

The problem is that Ford badged radio's are really made by Pioneer or some other major company( I used to know the name-sheesh), and the changer will only work with that brand of radio.

I also would suggest getting a factory one if money is tight, as they are pretty cheap.

Clarion?

I've heard that the OEM stuff is made by Clarion. Anyone know if this is right?

If so, will the changer work with any Clarion deck?

Sorryu nothing will work with it. Part of the arangment most manufatures have with suppliers of radios and changers make the change either pin configuration or data language. If any one remebers back when when Alpine made adaptors to make there changers work for the OEM radios in cars. Well they almost lost that business because you had aftermarket shop doing it cheaper than a dealer. Alpine stopped making the interfaces after that.
