Hey all,
I am new to the forums. Proud owner of a 2001 4x4 trac :). Now, the problem: there was a noise in the front driver side wheel, a hum, then shortly after, the abs started pulsing EVERY time i applied the brakes. I was 100% sure it was the bearing, so i replaced the hub. Totally fixed the problem, smooth sailin...for about 2000 miles =\. Now the noise has returned, it is a hum/roar kinda like offroad tire roar. and increases in volume as i increase speed. Now, is it just dumb luck that i got a bad hub replacement or do i have something else going on? Any ideas? Thanks!!

I forgot to say, the noise is worst around 30-40 mph and also, when i changed the hub, i changed both driver and passenger side and the noise has come back, the pulsing brakes has not returned but the noise is loud.

Possible you got a bad hub. New parts are bad sometimes too. Only other things could be axle shaft or tire.

Are the axle shafts leaking from the seals, might be rubbing on the diff housing if its that bad? Could've gotten a defective hub. Also check the diff fuildand the axle shafts themselves.

Thank you guys, i will check out the axle shafts, the truck has 69,700 miles on it now. I will check fluids and im going to go ahead and get the tires rebalanced/rotated along with an alignment when i get my oil changed and see if that changes anything.

I'd say you got a bad hub. It is a pretty lousy design, but I just had to replace mine on the drivers side and it did the same thing (hum/roar) got it replaced and no more noise. I'd take the part back and get it replaced, does the part have a warranty on it? They're not cheap I know that.

Yes, the part does have a warranty on it, and I'm goin to rip it apart and take it back tomorrow. Hopefully thats what it is, even though its a hassle, its not a bad job to replace it so that would be nice to have the problem solved.
