This started about a week ago and has gotten louder since. I checked everything in the front end and all seems to be tight. I origanally thought it was the wheel bearing but the noise does not change in the turns. I decided to take it to the midas down the road for them to check it and they said the same thing that everything is tight and that if it was a wheel bearing the noise would change in the turns. They did not know what to do other than take it to the ford dealer. That is a last resort for me because the few times any of my trucks have been there they racked up a huge bill. I do not know what to do next. Any sugestions would be great.

Thanks
Jarod

Have you checked the Transfercase and front differential fluid levels?

does it go up and down with car speeds?

if so could = U-Joint

Huge bill just to check it out ,aybe $100.00

If it's just under acceleration (or get's noticable louder under acceleration), then it's prob the U-joints. My vibration started 3 weeks ago.. last week I researched it on here and bingo, that's what it was.. kept getting worse and worse.. 96K miles.

Good luck,

JK

this problem your having is it in four wheel drive or two?? i had this problem where in my front end where i would take it out of four wheel and it wouldn't fully dis-engage it would make a winding sound the faster the "X" went so i had to stop and engage then dis-engage a couple times!! off the subject but if a u-joint is out in the fron end would that be a possibility of the front driver side wheel not locking in four wheel drive?? creating a 3x4??
