Husky / WeatherTech Floor and Cargo Liners

Sorry all, but I couldn't help it. Given I'm hoping my X will be in by next week, I went ahead and ordered the Weather Tech 1st, 2ndm 3rd row liners as well.

I already have Husky 1st, 2nd, and Cargo (behind 3rd row), but just couldn't stop thinking maybe WT aren't as bad as they look.

Now I'll be able to do a true comparison, and will send back the ones I don't like best. If I decide to keep WT, I'll send back all Husky but the cargo liner, since WT doesn't offer that yet. If I keep Husky, I'll see if I can send back WT and keep the 3rd row.

Best of both worlds.

Please let us know what you think of the WT's! Since I just ordered my X a couple of weeks ago, I have some time to think about what mats I want. I really didn't like the looks of the Husky mats (the design just isn't my cup of tea), so I am thinking about the WT's. Living in SoCal, complete coverage is not as much of an issue for me as it might be for others, but since I have not seen any good pictures of the mats that WT actually produces for the 2011 Ex, I am still deciding.

WT does offer the cargo liner doesn't it?

I'm trying to decide what color to get. Is everyone getting black to match the black carpet (assuming you have light stone interior) or are they getting gray to match the seats?

Gandalf - My other normal screen name is Dunadan (just about everywhere but here). If you know what what the reference is too, you're a true fan, and maybe waiting for RR Martin's series to start on HBO? ;)

I'll let you know on the WT's. I too love the quality and have bee unsure of the Husky. I've been battling with the decision since I made it. What normal person would order two sets of $200+ floor mats :)

Jeeden - I'm going with black to match my Charcoal Black interior. I figure you can't go wrong with that. Even if the colors are off, it will be fine and just add some contrast.

Ha-Ha! Yes, I know exactly what the reference is. On most forums, Gandalf is taken fairly early on, but on a car based forum, I am not too surprised I was able to get it. On most forums, I take the name Gildor. Now, that is an obscure reference! :)

Oddly enough, not really into Martin's stuff. Read the first couple books and they didn't really grab me. I don't have HBO anyhow...

I will say I am probably one of the very few people on this board who are into anime.

But, back to the topic at hand, I really need some more info to proceed on the mats. When I bought my 93, Ford offered carpeted mats especially for the Explorer. The driver side mat has worn down to the bottom rubber, but still no hole all the way through. Now, since all they appear to offer is rubber mats, I am looking into the third party solution.

we have light stone interior, to us it's is more of a "tan" than a "grey" color, so our natural choice was black huskies all around to match the carpet, which turned out great in my opinion.
I think that grey huskies would not look good with the tan (light stone) interior and with the black carpets.

Just ordered the Black WeatherTech Cargo liner for mine. Had one in my '02 and have one in my E350. They are light and fit like OEM.

I ordered the black WT for all three rows plus the cargo liners. They fit very well and look terrific.

I wonder if WT is going to produce a cargo liner for behind 3rd row seat. Right now they only have behind 2nd.

If they do, I'll buy it. Surely there are others who would buy as well.

Looking for recommendations for a trunk liner with the 3rd row folded down. I would prefer something that is easily foldable, so in the case I do need the 3rd row, I can easily just put the liner away in the trunk.
Thanks so much!

I just put in a Husky liner for the back with 3rd row down. Same situation, wife wondered what we'd do if we spontaneously needed to use that 3rd row. Since it arrived rolled up I am assuming / hoping I can just roll it up and store in behind the 3rd row in a pinch.

The liner itself is well made, fits beautifully, and looks as if it will really protect the back which includes the backs of the folded down 3rd row seats.

Because I have dogs, I went a less traditional cargo liner direction.

I keep the dogs in the 2nd row, so this generally just acts as a cargo cover. It stays in place well, especially for what it is, comes out easily, and will store easily.

So far, it's only really been tested with groceries, boxes, a closet door, and whatever cleaners/wax/etc that I've been working with while detailing. It covers about 3" up the sides, which I like.

Husky as well and yes it does roll up and fit in the little storage area behind the 3rd row.

There are many threads about this. Did you check the gallery to see the images? I have a photo in it for the 5th generation Explorers that shows my Weathertech trunk mat. Works great for me.

I went with the OEM cargo liner this time. Used Husky in the past but the vehicle came with the OEM all weather mats which I did not want so traded them for the cargo liner.
Since the members say the liner will roll up and fit in behind the 3rd row seats I think a full liner would be the better option since it can be used when the seats are down.
